Celebrate languages in schools

Languages Week Scotland serves as a vibrant platform dedicated to fostering language learning and promoting multilingualism. We support schools with a variety of resources, including daily challenges, suggested activities and school showcases.

Our goal is to encourage schools throughout Scotland to engage their learners, families, and communities through the celebration of languages, creating a country that values and celebrates linguistic diversity.

Everyone is invited to take part in our daily challenges. Work with your class, teacher, family or friends and join in!

Celebrate languages with your family

Scotland is a “linguistic powerhouse”, with more than 5% of young people using a language other than English at home, and all learners across the country having access to learning a first additional language from P1 and a second from P5.โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹

Languages Week Scotland is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of languages – used and being learnt – in homes and families across the country.
